Saturdays generally don't work for me either for the most part. But I'd be willing to help out on Mondays if I'm not doing anything or have anything planned. I'd say go for it and if you can get some guildies, great, if not, pugs aren't too bad these days for Normal.
Saturday is like sacred family night for me so it's an absolute no-go. I may just start running my own PuG on Mondays to not interfere with other guild stuff but still be able to raid. I still need a lot of gear from Norm Nighthold and don't want to hold back others who are trying to progress.
(I have WAAAYYYY too much mastery and not nearly enough crit/haste)
In the past for Emerald Nightmare and Trial of Valor we would do alt-runs on Saturday night. We would run the normal version of the latest raid while the two raid nights (Thurs and Sun) would focus on heroic. We hadn't been doing this the past month and a half because people were sick of Trial of Valor and Nighthold was still new so the two raid nights were doing that difficulty.
At this point though, normal Nighthold is on farm and the amount of loot ppl need from it is getting smaller and smaller. This coming Saturday we were going to put normal Nighthold back up on the calendar and it works the exact way you laid out - alts welcome, no epgp, just having fun.
I'm wondering if there's any interest in forming a casual raid group? I'm currently in Green, but as the guild progressives into Heroic, I feel I might be holding the group back (my DPS is just kinda so-so, but I don't have enough time in my life right now to focus on getting much better). Rather than join the Heroic raiding and hold back others that are more passionate about progression, I was thinking about running a Normal group on Monday nights (maybe 8pm ET?).
The Normal raid would be more casual and not be part of EPGP. There would be no attendance requirement or formal sign-up, just a group giving it a shot for a couple of hours before raid reset. Alts would be permitted. It would also allow our raiders that CAN normally attend raid to still get some raid time in if they missed their chance earlier that week for whatever reason. Potentially this could also be a vetting ground for players to enter the more progression focused groups.
This may be a horrible idea, I've been known to have them. I do like being in this guild, but the one point that's always bugged me is when I feel I'm holding others back. Please let me know your thoughts. Even if the guild as a whole is not interested, I might just try to set up a PUG group on Monday nights, so PM me in game if you're interested from a separate non-Guild Normal PUG, recurring.
